Three time BBC Radio 2 playlisted singer songwriter Callaghan is returning to the UK this March for four exclusive live shows, including two special performances at London’s St Pancras Old Church on March 9th & 10th.
The US based singer songwriter will be playing songs from her acclaimed album, ‘A History of Now’ including the aforementioned BBC Radio 2 play listed singles ‘Best Year’, ’We Don’t Have Change The World’ and ‘Last Song’. It will also give fans their first chance to hear brand new material from Callaghan’s upcoming EP “The Other Side”, recently recorded in Los Angeles and set for release this summer, one of three new EPs planned for the next twelve months.
“It’s been an amazing experience to write and record in LA, with such a fantastically talented group of producers and musicians” says Callaghan. “I’ve played a very active role in the productions of the new EP, and it's definitely an evolution in my sound. I’m excited to play some of these songs out for the first time at St Pancras old Church in March and to start releasing this new music in the spring.”
The new music has all been written or co-written by Callaghan and produced by Anthony Resta (Duran Duran, Shawn Mullins, Elton John), Jeff Fair and Starr Parodi (having worked on scores for huge films like Harry Potter, James Bond and Mission Impossible) and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her career.
Originally from Lincolnshire Callaghan moved to the USA in 2010 to tour and record with Atlanta based Grammy nominee Shawn Mullins. In 2015, after five years of building her audience in the US, (where she’s now sold over 15,000 albums) – she returned to the UK with the new album, going on to enjoy a hugely successful couple of years which has seen her profile build substantially in the UK.
Following the album, Callaghan has returned to the UK for multiple trips. There were two appearances at the massive C2C festival at London’s O2 arena followed by a sell-out UK tour and festival appearances including Celtic Connections, SummerTyne Festival, The Secret Garden Party and Cambridge Folk Festival. She’s also played live sessions for BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris and Good Morning Sunday and BBC London’s Gaby Roslin and Robert Elms. Her US shows continue to go from strength to strength having now played across 48 states. Plus she’s been heralded for her nonstop house tours which she’s now taken across four countries and two continents, of which Billboard Magazine wrote “Callaghan has perfected a model that few artists would dare endeavor, or possess the will, and skills, to pull off”.
To coincide with the UK shows, Callaghan will also be launching her new Pledge Music campaign to fund the recording of the next two EPs. Pledgers will be able to enjoy ‘The Other Side’ in May while a full release is scheduled for June.
