My first visit to the new home of The Sound Lounge turned out to be a bit special. It's a smaller venue, but cosy and welcoming. Laurel Canyon Music, as usual pulled out all the stops with headliner Hattie Briggs, accompanied by guitarist Matt Park, giving us a stunning show and songs covering her whole career right up to brand new numbers. It's amazing to think that career is only a few years old and there's so much more to come.
Supporting Hattie was fellow Fender finalist Sherika Sherard. It's the first time I've seen her but thoroughly enjoyed her well crafted songs, and great guitar work, about love and life.
Opening the evening Edmund Jeffery also put on a good show with a good range of songs from ballads to more funky numbers but again dealing with the sort of people we all know, or all are.
A great evening and so good to see The Sound Lounge resurrected. Huge thanks to all the performers, sound, the venue and not forgetting Laurel Canyon and Gary Smith. London would be a poorer place without you all.
