A packed audience and a host of VIP's gathered at the church including BBC Radio 2's Paul Sexton, Chris Evans' Radio 2 production team, Richard Leader (American Pie) Chris O'Donnell (Live Nation), the team from Hesso Media and Tom Du Croz (London Gig Guide/6 Digital). This wonderful night of Blues and Americana was MCed by Brian Player (Acoustic Cafe - Blues & Roots Radio)
To start the concert we had a beautiful set from one of rising stars of UK Country Megan O'Neill playing in trio format. This was a rare performance in this format as just a couple of weeks earlier Megan had formed a new band Megan and The Common Threads. We were treated to a mix of songs from her excellent debut EP along with new songs which are being recorded for their debut album.
Jo Rose, another excellent singer-songwriter from Manchester was next up after enduring the Mega Bus trip from hell earlier in the day. A super set
Our headliner Lauren Housley and her six-piece band certainly didn't disappoint. Another rapidly rising star of the Blues and Americana world with a appearance at the Prudential Blues Fest at the O2 under her belt, they wowed the audience with songs from their debut album 'Sweet Surrender', some new songs and a few great covers for good measure. For the encore Megan and Jo were invited to the stage to join Lauren and the Band to sing 'The Weight'.
