Forfarshire - Kirsty Merryn ft Steve Knightley
It's a very special day for our next LCM featured artist Kirsty Merryn, not only is she launching her debut album 'She & I' tonight, Kirsty is doing it at the marvelous Union Chapel in London supporting the always wonderful 'Show Of Hands'. Our LCM #TrackOfTheDay is the beautiful 'Forfarshire' Kirsty's first single from her new album which also features Steve Knightley. Will they do the song together at the Chapel tonight?
Kirsty Merryn is a London-based singer-songwriter whose music is heavily anchored in the folk tradition, with influence from contemporary folk artists like Cara Dillon, Seth Lakeman and Kate Rusby, as well as genre-defying musicians like Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush. Kirsty has become a regular on the UK folk scene, delighting the crowds with her delicately introspective piano based songs and sophisticated musical style, which are balanced beautifully by an intimate and finely observational lyrical content. In 2015 after being discovered by Steve Knightley she received national airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music and in 2016 opened the main stage at Sidmouth Folk Week for headliners Show of Hands. Kirsty is currently working on her debut album, a collection of stories about inspirational women, with funding from the English Folk Dance and Song Society, and produced by award-winning Gerry Diver (Sam Lee, Lisa Knapp, The Speech Project), which will be released later in 2017. In Autumn 2017 Kirsty will be touring the UK over 22 nights, supporting Show of Hands on their Cathedral Tour.
