Rosie - Josh Rennie-Hynes
For our next LCM featured artist we travel to the warmer weather and sunny Australia, the home of indie singer-songwriter Josh Rennie-Hynes. Josh released his new album 'Furthermore' in August last year and our LCM #TrackOfTheDay is the first single 'Rosie'. We have been enjoying Josh's album and it reminds us in part of Andrew Combs. https://youtu.be/60Pgvyyb7kk
There’s been a real buzz building around Josh Rennie-Hynes in the last few years. Relatively new to the scene, he’s quickly garnered praise as one of the Australia’s finest young Songwriters.
Josh lives and breathes his music and songs, and this passion for his craft burns bright for all to see. He combines his love of honest and raw storytelling with deep introspection to create songs that are timeless and familiar, yet uniquely his own.
2014 saw him release his debut Album ‘February’ through MGM. The album was produced and recorded by ARIA award winning artist, Shane Nicholson and received much critical acclaim.
In late 2015, Josh stepped back into his Studio on the family farm in Woodford, Queensland, to begin work on his second album. 'Furthermore’ is a stunning collection of 11 songs that were recorded over the period of three weeks. Working everyday from morning until late night, Josh produced, engineered and recorded all of the songs alongside his friend and collaborator, Steve Grady. Together they played the bulk of the instruments; with a focus on capturing the essence of each song and building it from a Bedrock live performance of just Josh and a Guitar. The result is an album which is organic, cohesive, yet also eclectic, with Rennie-Hynes’ warm and assured Vocal providing the common thread throughout. Furthermore also features guest appearances from two time Grammy nominated Artist, Kim Richey, who sang on ‘I’ll Go Home’ Olivia Hally from OhPep! who sang on ‘Shining Down’, a song Josh and Olivia co wrote, and fellow Queensland born songwriter and multi instrumentalist Dan Parsons features on multiple tracks, lending guitar, harmony and percussion throughout. ‘Furthermore’ was released in late August 2016 and has been garnering incredible reviews.
