Hotel Amarillo - Caroline Spence
Our next LCM showcase artist is an excellent multi-award winning Virginia native but now Nashville based singer-songwriter Caroline Spence. Caroline released her wonderful critically acclaimed debut album 'Somehow' in 2015. It would be true to say that Caroline is enamored with words and songs. Though countless singer-songwriters boast the same simple claim, few have been lifted up by their passion the way she has. Her passion has led to a pilgrimage to Nashville, where the 25-year-old honed her writing and her coy, dusky soprano across folk, Americana and alt-country genres. Her new sophomore album 'Spades & Roses' released in March last year currently doesn't disappoint. As a taster our LCM#SongOfTheDay is the very reflective and personal 'Hotel Amarillo' about Caroline's touring life on the road.
If you would like to see Caroline performing live in the UK she will be at the 'End Of The Road' festival in Salisbury August 30 through September 2nd.
While Caroline Spence may not look like one of the road-hardened troubadours of America's past, with the release of 'Spades & Roses', the young songwriter from Charlottesville Virginia proves she is every bit as serious. Having won numerous songwriting awards from industry mainstays like the Kerrville Folk Festival and American Songwriter Magazine, and garnered nods and admiration from both Miranda Lambert and her fellow writers in the Nashville underground, Caroline has delivered a record to meet the expectation: Quite simply, 11 songs of gorgeous Americana that remind us of why we fell in love with the genre in the first place.
