Demons - Robert Vincent
Our LCM featured artist today is the multi-award winning Liverpool based singer-songwriter Robert Vincent. As a special treat our LCM #SongOfTheDay is a live version of one of our favourite tracks by Rob, the excellent 'Demons' taken from his debut album 'Life In Easy Steps'.
Recently awarded AMA UK album of the year our next LCM featured artist is Liverpool based singer-songwriter Robert Vincent. Rob credits his musical influences to his upbringing where his formative years were spent listening to his father’s collection of Emmylou Harris, Charlie Rich and Waylon Jennings albums and his older brothers introducing him to Pink Floyd. These early influences can be detected in Rob’s own strong story telling style of songwriting.
In 2013 Rob released his debut album “Life in Easy Steps”. The title track was play listed on Radio 2 nd received 4/5 star reviews n the music press. Since then he has been receiving national airplay on both Janice Long and Bob Harris’ Radio 2 hows and on Radcliffe and Maconie s well as local airplay throughout Merseyside. Last year he supported James Blunt, playing to a packed Arena. Blunt aid he chose him as support because: “I really like the sound of Robert Vincent’s voice, and the craftsmanship with his songwriting”.
A turning point for Rob's career came when playing at a songwriters event in Liverpool . On the panel was “Whispering” Bob Harris who was impressed with what he heard. “ I am so impressed with Roberts music. Strong songs laced with blues and country he is the real deal”
Following their meeting Robert was invited to record a live session for Radio 2 and Bob Harris chose him as his “emerging artist” at the inaugural UK Americana awards 2016. Following on from this Robert was signed to Brighton based label At The Helm Records and was invited by the executive director of the Americana Music Association Jed Hilly to play at the Americana Awards showcases festival in Nashville Tennessee.
Here he continued to make an impression and was named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the top 20 acts they saw at the festival under the heading “Best Brit”. The trip also saw him signed to Last Chance Records for a US release of his new album “Ill Make the Most of my Sins”. His second album was recorded in Liverpool with members of his band and mixed over in Nashville with Grammy winning producer Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle)
Rob is definitely one to watch in 2018
