Liam Wakefield - Thirteen Gardens
LCM Song Of Day: ‘Thirteen Gardens’ - Liam Wakefield
With a wonderful Tom Petty vibe our LCM featured track today is by Southampton based singer-songwriter Liam Wakefield’. Born and raised in Horsham, West Sussex, Liam began his search for virtuosity by fronting the rock bands such as Black Arrows, and Trilogy. In 2009 Liam hung the mic up and joined the British Army. It is there that Liam has spent the past decade, seeing combat in Afghanistan with 1PWRR, and then later serving with 17Port&Maritime, settling roots in Hampshire.
2019 saw the re-launch of Liam’s music career, a return welcomed by many. Since February he has crafted a beautiful and raw set of original songs which takes a likeness to his idols such as Springsteen, Tom Petty, and modern poetic songwriters such as Gregory Alan Isakov and Noah Gunderson. A man of obvious great taste.
Liam’s music is full of the grit and poetry and tarnished-beauty that has been shaped by an exciting and challenging life. his song writing has grown from strength to strength and the melancholy and depth in the writing has become a trademark.
Liam recorded his debut EP at Quay West Studios with producer/songwriter Nick Bowen and saw radio played across UK, European and American radio stations. He was also featured in a number of magazines.
2019 was busy and exciting, with a list of top-notch venues added to Liam’s belt, and November saw Liam headline the O2 Academy Islington.
2020 is already proving there is no time to slow down the pace. Liam is currently working on his debut album ‘Novella’ which is set for an early 2020 release.
Watch out for Liam’s latest single ‘Trust Your Heart’ which was released on January 10th.
If you would like to see Liam live in London he will be launching a new music video and headlining at Map Studio's Cafe on March 6th.
