The AMA UK announces award nominees for 2020
On a wonderful night in Islington yesterday Mary Gauthier and Baylen Leonard announced the nominations for the AMA UK awards for 2020. The theme of the event for 2020 is ‘Collaborate and Cross-Pollinate’, reflecting how Americana artists work together across different genres and art forms.
With an excellent series of conferences and showcases planned in Hackney, the event culminates on January 30th with the AMA UK awards show at the art deco Troxy in Limehouse, East London.
The special awards for 2020 are:-

The 2020 AMA UK conference starts on January 28th at the Hackney Picture House. The keynote speaker this year is Joan Armatrading. On the evenings of January 28th and 29th, 75 artists from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and Europe will showcase across eight Hackey venues. This will include showcases hosted by Yep Rock (Canada), Canada House (Canada) and House Of Songs (USA). The line-up is excellent this year and reads like a ‘who’s who’ of the Americana world. Personal highlights include Blue Rose Code, Danni Nicholls, Ferris and Sylvester, Irish Mythen, Kyshona, Matin Harley, Rob Vincent, Roseanne Reid, Stephen Fearing, Worry Dolls and The Secret Sisters.
January 27th also features an extra special charity kick-off event at OSLO celebrating the meeting of Texan roots rocker Joe Ely with London punks The Clash. ‘Americana Clash’. It will also celebrate 40 years since the release on the iconic Clash album ‘London Calling’. Guests include Frank Turner, Grace Petrie and Danny Champ.
