Softly Softly is a excellent initmate unplugged Sunday afternoon gig at the Kiss the Sky, Park Road, Crouch End N8. Which is held on the first and third Sundays of the month. They are normally three featured artists on each line-up. Softly Softly is a lovely, listening, friendly event that is a firm favourite of all the artists that have performed there. Music fans love it too as it is a great way to listen to some great music and talk to the musicians afterwards.....and they have marshmallows too! Yum! The Sunday sessions run from 2.45pm till 5pm and it's just £3 on the door. Sorry it's adults only for this one, as no children are not allowed in the Bar. Potential performers - bookings handled on email only: softlydoesit @ googlemail.com

New Roots is committed to promoting events that shine a light on up and coming talent in the UK alt-folk scene. It’s committed to providing artists with an environment that is sympathetic to what they do, giving musicians the respect they and their music deserves. For this reason we ask for no talking and no use of mobile phones during performances to ensure the music gets the attention it warrants. We put bills together that we think work as a whole, so the night can be experienced as a show in it’s own right, from start to finish. We work with venues that share our attitude- The Green Note in NW1, The Harrison in WC1, The Slaughtered Lamb in Farringdon EC1, The Old Queens Head in Islington, N1, and our own very special venue, The Winemakers, a beautiful candle-lit stone arch in the vaults of the Holborn viaduct. Our music policy comes from the kitchen table, the roots of public performance- intimate, acoustic based, high quality musicianship with as little interference between performer and listener as possible. They now have their own New Roots Radio Show, featuring the best in what we consider roots music. It’s a very broad church, from cutting edge UK and US alt-folk, to country blues, Irish & Scottish trad to African desert rock, punk-folk to chamber-folk, rhythm & blues to jazz. Dive in!
