Joe Innes & The Cavalcade are a great Indie Alt-folk band from London led by singer/songwriter Joe Innes, whose offbeat and often irreverent songwriting has gained praise from national radio as well as online, being described as things like “a master of words” by This is Fake DIY and “just brilliant” by Tom Robinson on BBC6.
Since forming in 2012, the band have become firmly rooted in London’s music scene, perfecting a loud and energetic live show that gets audiences clicking and howling (literally) and has won the band favourable comparisons to The Decemberists, Bright Eyes and The Mountain Goats. They have played some of the biggest festivals in the UK including Cambridge Folk Festival, Camp Bestival and Secret Garden Party, and supported incredible artists like Caitlin Rose, Anais Mitchell, Sea of Bees and Toby Goodshank.
Their EP ‘Brian, I’m a Genius Too’ was released in June 2014 to widespread acclaim.
2017 looks to be another exciting year as the band release their new album 'Foreign Domestic Policy', it's a stunningly poignant and relevant piece of work in these uncertain times. It is a document of Joe’s life as it currently is, on both a macro and micro scale. It's about the artist’s relationships, his mental health and his experience, all framed by the political events of the past year – “it's how I feel about where I am as a person, as a husband, and as a citizen of the UK in 2017”.
